The unanimous verdict of a five-judge constitution bench of Supreme Court not to legalise same-sex marriage and leave lawmaking to Parliament is wise but leaves a question. Since parliamentary prerogative was no secret, why did the SC even take up this case and waste precious judicial time for five months?
