The current political situation in India is quite murky. There is tHE strong ruling party functioning in a stable alliance, on one side. On the other, the opposition is a patchwork alliance of disparate political entities, who have mutually incompatible self-interests. This so-called ‘united’ opposition are united only on one issue: opposing BJP. Oh, most of them are also united in their efforts to belittle Indian National Congress (INC). The latter is the biggest component of this opposition alliance that goes under the grand title ‘India alliance’!

The leader-in-effect of INC seems to be entirely unacceptable to the leaders of this anti-INC- sub-group within ‘India’. It appears that this sub-group is more convinced of the urgency to destroy INC, than opposing BJP. Obviously, they don’t buy the theory that there will be very little left of the ‘India alliance’, once INC is finished. Under these circumstances, it will be better for INC to dissolve itself. Their ageing leaders may at least go with whatever dignity that they have, in tact.
