India is a highly diverse society in terms of religion, language, food, dress, and social practices. Add to that differences such as urban, rural, tribal. There are diverse social and political beliefs such as market economy, welfarism, socialism, not to speak of left-wing extremism. India has always had the divide between the Haves and Have-nots. Next add gender divide too. Two days back, Uncle Sam has added skin colour too for this diversity. I am sure that there no other country on this planet, which is so diverse and so divided and yet remains a single geographical, socio-political, and cultural entity.
In the present run up to the Lok Sabha election, as a Mr. Citizen, I have seen political parties vying to divide the society along all these lines. We have heard an MP, who had taken oath to preserve the unity and integrity of India, threatening to demand a separate South Indian nation. Another Chief Minister released the caste census data for his State hoping that others would follow suit. It was a non-event. There is Tamil Nadu which claims to be Dravidian and distinct from the rest of India. As a next-door neighbour of Tamil Nadu, I know that this brand of Dravidianism is barely a century old. Ancient Tamil Nadu was certainly not atheistic.
Then you have Tamil politicians declaring that north Indians are fit for only menial jobs, and label north India as go-mutra territory. Then there are the INDIA block politicians who firmly believe that if they offend Hindus and Hindu deities, some how their share of Muslim votes would be augmented. Brahmins and Banias are easily abused. This is safe, as neither of them can retaliate, nor go around beheading the offenders.
The Indian National Congress has added some more spice to this divisiveness. It has proposed a survey of wealth held by individuals and Institutions and their redistribution. Of course, Congress failed to create wealth in its sixty years solo-or coalition rule. It is too cumbersome to plan for economic growth, create jobs and let people live with dignity. The next best thing it has proposed is to snatch wealth from the Haves and distribute them amongst the Have-nots. Probably, the main objective is to target rich Hindu temples and take away their cash and gold.
This wealth redistribution has been tried in several Communist regimes with very little or no retaliation from the Haves. Of course, the Communist experience has shown that this process of redistribution of wealth helped only the Communist Party members to become rich and even opulent. If ever Indian National Congress comes to power and implements this astounding proposal, Congress party members and supporters will become rich at the cost of Haves.
Some think that this is a Communist idea. It is an Islamic practice. Starting with the Battle of Badr fought by the first Muslims under the leadership of Prophet Mohammed against a merchant caravan, it is a well-established practice in Islam to divide the booty according to a prescribed ratio. The Prophet and his early followers got larger share of the booty than those who joined Islam later.
Now, Rahul Gandhi has added the gender divide. The Congress manifesto promises annual payment of Rs.1 lakh to every woman. Now, even before Congress party could come to power and implement this scheme, he has already warned that men in the family with snatch away this money from the women! This is the best instance of counting the chickens before the eggs could hatch.
Now, he has raked up another issue about unpaid labour in the households. Ideally, politicians should stick to public life, and not interfere in household matters of citizens. So, husbands must pay salaries to wives. If she is a working wife, does she still get this salary from husband? If the husband does menial jobs, or is a daily wage earner, what kind of salary is he expected to pay? In case the family is in dire need of money, can the husband ask the wife to spend her “salary”? Since Rahul Gandhi is not exactly burdened with intelligence, it would be too much to expect him to anticipate such issues and clarify.
In conclusion it seems , to me that there is systematic plan to Balkanise India. A big integral India is a threat to the Western hegemony. The West does not want India to become the next China. Divide India into as many pieces as possible: based on region, language, religion, caste, wealth, gender and even based on skin colour, so that the Family as a social institution is destroyed or at least weakened.
I am waiting with bated breath to see whether the wise Indian voters will support these plans.
These pieces are being published as they have been received – they have not been edited/fact-checked by ThePrint
Well Mr Gururaj sir, your partiality clearly shows when you conveniently forget about the biggest divisive talk by the person in the highest position in India! Remember “ghuspaithiye (infiltrators) and jinke zyada bachche hain (those who have more children)”? How unifying are these comments!?
