Yeah, this would sound weird considering the fact that we have lamented as we rightfully should of having lost a significant chunk of our landmass due to some devious ploy of the “white man”. But hear me out, today looking at our country and the dismembered parts, I think we owe it to Jinnah, the Muslim electorates of UP, CP, Bengal and elsewhere who voted to get out of the “idea of India”. I mean think about it, primarily it was the Muslim affluent class which moved out seeking better pastures and till date oppress fellow Muslims in Pak on the basis of their pre-partition titles or family status. They own huge tracts of land, aversive of any change which impacts them/their status in the society and what not. What you see in Pakistan today is a an upper crust which behaves as mentioned above, & the proletariat which has no option but to carry the state with some periodic injections of anti-Hindu hate, islamic state utopia, & the Kalma as the dopamine. That country has no breakthrough to claim as achievements, mostly has mimicked policies of the “evil” Hindu neighbor State it detests publicly, scrapped the first constitution it drafted, & since its founding shown utter disregard of institutions and offices that led to overthrowing of leaders who otherwise were prominent in their struggle for a separate state. Think about it, were these nawabs and their inheritors amongst us in a unified India since start, could Pandit Nehru & his ilk continue with a stable frame of mind in administration that they enjoyed due to the high respect, adoration/veneration they got from the Indian people. That the polity, the Indian people trusted their leaders to lead them to modernity & to take them to rightful place in the committee of nations is admirable.
That India at the same time could draft a constitution, including almost every section of the society to be a part of its making, having debates discussions on each clause lasting days, ultimately agreeing on a document which is held in high value even after 85 years is remarkable. Go back to the time when Muslim league walked out of the inaugural sessions of the constitution drafting committee of united India under the pretext of it being hijacked by the “Hindu” Congress. So would such “enablers” allow even a document as crucial as the constitution be drafted in the first place? That their personal ego, superiority complexes would not try to undermine the top leaders of the congress and their credibility would have taken this country directionless and to total chaos. Religion being kept at bay and science & rational thinking was encouraged in this partitioned india. Just like the times when the West was building institutions like Oxford, & Mughal India was busy building Taj Mahal, their heirs/legacy claimants would push for construction of more minars & monuments rather than IITs, CSIR, AIIMS in India of the 50s. That riots in such India would be at astronomically higher rate than what partitioned India faced during those times is a no-brainer. This partitioned piece of land has acted as a great buffer between the us Indians from the turmoil of Afghanistan. Imagine how a united India would suffer with millions of Afghan refugees hurling through the KPK border & spread from Ladakh to Kanyakumari & Somnath to Jorhat. What repercussions would that have for India’s growth journey?. That 250 million would push hard for no vaccination & influence others would hurt our government’s inoculation targets several folds. Despite the levels of corruptions in today’s India, one can’t deny that India has focussed on growing, reducing its problems, be it education, famines, social evils, health, nutrition & economy over decades and transformed itself to a 4 trillion USD, power surplus economy eradicating several diseases, improving nutrition, mortality rate of its vulnerable sections. Maybe Nehru wouldn’t last long in office, maybe Patel would be unsuccessful convincing provinces, maybe the parliament would be nothing but a centre of abuse/logjam & impasse between the Congress & Muslim league. & Maybe India’s map would be nothing but fragments of provinces & princely states covertly supported by either the muslim league or the INC. Today if hypothetically most of Pakistan provinces were to voluntarily vote to accede to India, do we want such population with such radicalised mindset, with an economy choked in debt, with inflation, diseases, sanitation, health, education levels of an India of 70s..wouldn’t that pull down and retard today’s India back by several decades?. So I for one don’t want that wretched piece of land because with that comes the population.
So, thanks to Jinnah, the evil white man & Almighty who art in heaven for draining out most of the poison out of India right when it mattered.
