New Delhi: The UK has pledged £99 million to the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs) this fiscal year, providing essential services to civilians in Gaza and the West Bank through partner agencies.

International Development Minister Anneliese Dodds announced Monday, an additional £19 million in funding for Gaza, including £12 million for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the World Food Programme (WFP). The funding will bolster the UK’s humanitarian program in Gaza, which has already provided essential healthcare to half a million people and improved access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services for 284,000 people, a UK government press release stated.

Dodds underscored the UK’s commitment to supporting the region’s most vulnerable communities by pledging additional funding for UNRWA and supporting the Palestinian Authority reforms. To underscore the UK’s ongoing commitment to achieving stability in the region and to discuss ways to improve economic stability for all Palestinians, Dodds traveled to the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel.
To demonstrate the UK’s support for the Palestinian Authority and its essential political and economic reform agenda, Dodds met with Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Mustafa, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Wael Zakout.
