BRASILIA, Dec 9 (Reuters) – The head of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s Workers Party, Edinho Silva, said on Tuesday it was hard to take seriously Senator Flavio Bolsonaro’s presidential bid after the lawmaker suggested he might step aside.

“No one launches a candidacy one day and the next day says, ‘look, I can negotiate.’ It’s not just me – no one would take it seriously,” Silva told reporters in Brasilia.

Flavio, the eldest son of jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro, announced on Friday his father backed his presidential bid, but later said he might step down “at a price.” He reaffirmed his candidacy on Tuesday, however.
