OPJS University ranks 17th in Khelo India Inter-University Games 2022

OPJS University won the first place trophy in the Khelo India University Games in the women's wrestling

About 189 universities across the country participated in the Khelo India University Games held in Bangalore. In which 4000 players participated in many competitions including archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, fencing, football, hockey, judo, kabaddi, shooting, and swimming. A total of 275 in sports like tennis, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and karate and many more.

This time the indigenous sports Mallakhamb and Yogasana were also added to the Khelo India University Games. In this Mahakumbh of sports, the players of OPJS University of Rajasthan performed brilliantly and secured 17th position in the points table. On the other hand, if we talk about the state of Rajasthan, then OPJS University is the top among all government and private universities.

It was the first university in Rajasthan to make it to under 20th place. In women’s wrestling, the university scored a hat-trick of gold medals. Pooja won the gold medal in the 76 kg category, Ritika won the gold medal in the 72 kg category, Pushpa won the gold medal in the 59 kg category, and Komal Dalal won a bronze medal in the 65 kg category and Diksha Malik won bronze medal in 62 kg category. In men’s wrestling, Anil won the gold medal in the 92 kg category. Boxers of OPJS University also punched fiercely on the medals. OPJS University received three medals in boxing. In which Akshay Kumar won gold medal in 63 kg weight category, Manish won silver medal in 57 kg weight category and Yuvraj won bronze medal in 54 kg weight category.

OPJS University had secured the second position in the Inter-University Games held at the Bahal, Rajasthan. MDU University was in the first place but now OPJS University has overtaken MDU University and has secured the first position in women’s wrestling.

Founder Chairman Dr Jogender Singh Dalal said “OPJS University is emerging as a Sports University. If we talk about sports, then the journey of the university has been great. The university has won more than 50 medals in many competitions even before this. The biggest reason for the way the university is consistently performing well in sports is because I was an international boxer and from the very beginning wanted to promote sports and for that reason, we have scholarships for sportspersons.”

Dr Jogender Singh has won many medals at the national and international levels, so he has a lot of inclination toward sports. OPJS University has many good domestic and foreign coaches of national level for sports. OPJS University campus also has an indoor and outdoor stadium for almost all sports in which players practice in which facilities for wrestling, boxing, volleyball, handball football, swing cool, and badminton are available.

University also runs sports-related courses such as BPEd, DPEd, CPEd, BPE, MPE, CP E, etc.
