Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology ( KIIT) Deemed to be University has entered 2021 with a bang. The Bhubaneshwar-based university has ranked 21st in the ranking among public and private universities in the country in the NIRF India Rankings 2021.
This is high recognition indeed for a young university — it was founded in 1992 — coming as it does from the Ministry of Education of the Government of India, under the National Institutional Ranking Framework.
A notch higher
The latest rankings were e-released by Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education on 9 September. KIIT has improved its position in this annual national-level ranking exercise compared to last year, when it had achieved the 24th rank. Its law school, KIIT Law School, has also been placed among the top 10 law schools in India. Other streams have recorded significant improvement compared to last year as well.
KIIT’s performance is impressive as it was founded only 17 years ago and is a big boost for this huge, multidisciplinary university that has as many as 28 faculties.
Setting milestones
KIIT has been consistent in setting milestones in professional and higher education and research. Last week, it was ranked 801-1000 globally in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022.
“I firmly believe that slow and steady wins the race, and wish KIIT to keep climbing up the ladder and continue to strive towards excellence”, said Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder, KIIT and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).
NIRF rankings consider parameters such as Teaching, Learning & Resources; Research and Professional Practice; Graduation Outcome; Outreach & Inclusivity; and Perception. Staff, students and parents have expressed happiness over the performance of KIIT and thanked Dr. Samanta for guiding the institution towards consistent outstanding performance.
