MELBOURNE (Reuters) – Highlights of the fifth day of the Australian Open on Thursday (all times GMT):

0022 PLAY BEGINS AT MELBOURNE PARK

Play began on schedule on the fifth day of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park with the temperature hovering around 17 degrees Celsius (62.6 degrees Fahrenheit).

Second seed Iga Swiatek will be in action on Rod Laver Arena later, while defending men’s champion Jannik Sinner will take to the court in the evening session.

Italians Jasmine Paolini and Matteo Berrettini are among those playing on the showcourts. Other top seeds on the schedule include Taylor Fritz and Daniil Medvedev.
