MARSEILLE, France (Reuters) – Valentin Bontus of Austria won gold in the men’s kiteboarding on Friday. Toni Vodisek of Slovenia secured silver in the final, with Max Maeder of Singapore picking up bronze.

Bontus, 23, celebrated his win with a huge aerial jump on his foiling board pumping his fist after a dominant finish.

The kiteboarding men’s final brings the Olympic sailing events to a close and marks a successful debut for the action-packed foiling class.

Slovenia’s Vodisek lost control and suffered a wipeout during the last race of the first-to-three final, bringing his hopes of Olympic gold to a dramatic end.
