New Delhi: Wild animals exist beyond our control. They are harmless and only occasionally dangerous. They live with us, or in spite of us.

Award-winning conservationist Neha Sinha’s upcoming book ‘Wild and Wilful’ notes that the “profound truth of the wild, and the world at large, is that we are a part of it, not owners of it”.

The book, published by Harper Collins, will be released on 26 March on ‘Soft Cover’ — ThePrint’s e-venue to launch select non-fiction books.

Sinha’s book talks about the magic of the wild in our daily lives and will take a reader from fear to wonder.

Those who know them understand that wild animals require acceptance for what they are, not enslavement for what we want them to be.

The book throws light on 15 iconic Indian species in need of conservation. The author explores what these creatures need, how they exert agency and decision-making.

Author Neha Sinha is an award-winning wildlife conservationist and has studied biodiversity conservation at Oxford University, after winning an INLAKS scholarship

She currently works with the Bombay Natural History Society, is a noted columnist and has taught environmental politics at Delhi University.
