The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

In today’s featured cartoon, Peter Brookes takes a jibe at Russian President Vladmir Putin and his recent announcement of the formal annexation of four Ukrainian regions —Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and  Zaporizhzhia. Here, Brookes replaces Putin in place of King Charles III who was not too long ago seen annoyed at a leaking pen. Only in Putin’s case, the ink has been replaced by blood, symbolizing the lives lost in the war.

Mister T | The Cartoon Movement | Twitter/@cartoonmovement

This cartoon alludes to the possible Russian involvement in the recent Nord Stream gas pipeline leak. While the Western countries have avoided pointing a finger directly, Moscow has blamed the West for the leak.

Harry Burton | Irish Examiner

Harry Burton takes a swipe at UK Prime Minister Liz Truss and her government which unveiled £45 billion of tax cuts funded by borrowing last week leading to a disruption in the already weak British economy. Burton illustrates how Truss’ policies will cause the destruction of 10 Downing Street and the country.

Adam Zyglis | Buffalo News

Adam Zyglis takes a gibe at Florida Governor Ronald DeSantis who condemned the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness plans, calling it ‘very unfair’. On the other hand, DeSantis who had once opposed giving aid to victims of Hurricane Sandy is himself now accepting aid for relief for the destruction caused in Florida by Hurricane Ian.

Andy Davey | The Telegraph

Andy Davey mocks Russian President Vladmir Putin as Russian forces were driven out of the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region, merely 24 hours after the Kremlin announced the formal annexation of four Ukrainian regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
