Guwahati, Feb 4 (PTI) Two Assam Police personnel were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly supplying drugs to the inmates of a jail here, a senior officer said.
Based on a complaint lodged a few days ago on the easy availability of drugs and liquor inside the Guwahati Central Jail, an inquiry was initiated, he said.
“We have found the involvement of the two jawans and arrested them this morning,” the police officer told PTI.
The two personnel were accused of providing drugs and liquor to the inmates of the jail in lieu of money, he said.
They were from the 4th Assam Police Battalion and posted at Guwahati Central Jail.
“Further investigation is going on to find out the involvement of more people in the network,” the police officer said. PTI TR TR BDC
