Ramanagara (Karnataka), Jul 9 (PTI) To foster a love for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), the Department of Education has collaborated with Pratham Books to distribute STEM library kits in 273 government schools of the district.

The launch event, held on July 8 at District Institute of Education and Training Ramanagara, marked the unveiling and ceremonial distribution of the library kits, stated a press release issued by Pratham Books on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, Basavarajegowda, Deputy Director of the Department of School Education, spoke about the current gaps in STEM learning and the importance of accessible resources for young children.

Purvi Shah, COO, Pratham Books, said picture books are powerful tools to unlock a STEM mindset — nurturing observation, experimentation, and problem-solving in children.

According to her, Pratham Books is tapping into the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of global giant Caterpillar to take this initiative further.

“With support from Caterpillar and the continued encouragement from the Department of Education, we are building a future where every child can read, explore, and develop a scientific mindset,” she added.

The “STEM with Stories” initiative will distribute 2,170 library kits to 2,000 schools across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu by September 2025, she added.

In 2024, Caterpillar’s support also enabled the distribution of 2,520 library kits in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Mumbai, Maharashtra, added the press release from Pratham Books. PTI JR ROH
