Ranchi, Jul 11 (PTI) The mortal remains of senior Congress leader and former minister Chandrashekhar Dubey, who died at a hospital in Delhi, were brought to Congress headquarters in Ranchi on Friday.
Dubey died at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital on Thursday.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Congress ministers, legislators and senior leaders paid homage to the former minister, popularly known as Dadai Dubey.
“Late Chandrashekhar Dubey (Dadai Dubey) Ji will always remain in people’s hearts. May Marang Buru grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the grieving family to bear this sorrowful time,” Soren posted on X after offering floral tributes to Dubey’s mortal remains in Ranchi.
Dubey’s body arrived at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda airport, where Jharkhand Congress in-charge K Raju, president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh and other leaders paid tribute to him.
Raju said that Dubey was a five-time MLA and also served as a Member of Parliament from Dhanbad constituency.
“He was a staunch advocate of workers’ rights and his dedication to the public will always be remembered,” Raju added.
Minister Dipika Pandey Singh said Chandrashekhar was a sensitive leader and voice of the underprivileged and weak.
Another leader said Dubey was also a national president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and fought for labourers’ rights.
Dubey had been undergoing treatment for the past one-and-a-half months, Palamu district Congress committee chief Jayesh Kumar Pathak said. PTI SAN SBN SBN
