Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 7 (PTI) A man from Gujarat was detained in Kerala’s capital for attempting to enter the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple wearing smartglasses, police said.

The pilgrim, identified as 66-year-old Surendra Shah, was taken into custody by temple security on Sunday evening.

According to police, devices like camera-equipped glasses are banned in the temple.

“Shah entered the temple through the main entrance. Security personnel grew suspicious and called him back. On inspection, it was found that his glasses had hidden cameras,” a police officer said.

He was escorted out of the temple, and a case was registered under BNS Section 223 (disobedience to lawful orders of public servants), he added.

Police said that while no malicious intent is suspected at this stage, a detailed investigation is underway.

Shah has been served a notice to appear for questioning, they added. PTI LGK SSK
