Kerala police files attempt to murder case against ex-driver of solar scam accused

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 25 (PTI) The Crime Branch of Kerala Police has registered an FIR against two persons, including the former driver of the controversial solar scam case accused Saritha S Nair, for allegedly attempting to murder her by giving food laced with chemicals including mercury and lead.

The FIR, filed on November 8, was registered under Sections 307, 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Sections 307 and 420 of the IPC deals with attempt to murder and cheating respectively while criminal conspiracy is dealt in Section 120B.

The case was registered against Thiruvananthapuram resident Vinu Kumar saying he conspired with other accused in a sexual assault case related to solar scam matter, and attempted to murder her for financial gains.

The FIR says Kumar was her driver since 2014. It also states that the accused tried to kill her by adding chemicals including arsenic, mercury and lead, in her food.

The FIR also states that Nair saw the accused mixing some powder in her juice after she was leaving the CBI office giving her statement in a case.

She and her accomplice Biju Radhakrishnan had allegedly swindled many people of crores of rupees promising to install solar panels and offering franchise and jobs in their company, Team Solar Renewable Energy Solutions Company. PTI RRT RRT HDA HDA
