Bengaluru, Jun 27 (PTI) A workshop to promote awareness and action around decentralised wastewater management solutions was organised on Friday by Karnataka Udyog Mitra, in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka.

The workshop, supported by Japanese company Daiki Axis India, brought together key government departments, sustainability leaders, and water infrastructure experts to explore how decentralised systems—such as Daiki Axis’s Johkasou technology—can help Karnataka lead in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Net Zero, and sustainable development.

According to a press release, Rio Waza, Director at Daiki Axis Japan, shared Japan’s journey of transformation from the environmental degradation of the 1960s to becoming a global model for sustainable water infrastructure.

Waza also highlighted the potential of Johkasou technology to enable localised, circular water management and spoke about Daiki’s commitment to localisation, community engagement, and skill development in India, the press release added.

Incidentally, Daiki Axis is setting up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tumkur, which is expected to streamline deployment and lower costs across southern India.

Participants at the workshop included officials from the Karnataka Housing Board, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation, Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Karnataka Police Housing Corporation, Public Works Department, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Department of Medical Education, Urban and Rural Water Supply departments, and the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).

S Selvakumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries; Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, Industries and Commerce; Dodda Basavaraju, Managing Director, Karnataka Udyog Mitra; and Veerabhadraiah B R, Chief Engineer, KIADB, were also present.
