Ranchi, Dec 5 (PTI) The first day of the winter session of the Jharkhand Assembly was adjourned on Friday after obituary references were made to eminent personalities who died recently.

The session will now be convened on Monday and will conclude on December 11, with five working days scheduled.

Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato said the second supplementary budget for the 2025-26 fiscal and some bills will be tabled during the session.

“I hope all members will play an active and positive role during the session. Our discussions and decisions will be fruitful only when they improve the lives of common people,” he said.

The speaker also said that a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee is scheduled on Friday.

Members of the House observed a minute’s silence in memory of politicians, artists, social workers and common citizens who passed away recently.

Among them were veteran Bollywood actors Dharmendra, Govardhan Asrani and Pankaj Dheer.

They also expressed condolences over the deaths in Delhi bomb blast near Red Fort.

Mahato on Thursday convened an all-party meeting to ensure the smooth functioning of the House during the upcoming winter session.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren, leader of opposition Babulal Marandi, Parliamentary Affairs minister Radhakrishna Kishore and other leaders attended the meeting.

Kishore said, “At the all-party meeting, it was decided that there will be no change in the fixed schedule of the session.

He said the leader of the opposition had requested an extension of the time allotted for the debate on the second supplementary budget, which was accepted.

Kishore added that cooperation from members of both the ruling and opposition benches was expected to ensure the session proceeds smoothly and proves productive in the interest of the people of the state. PTI RPS NAM RG
