Jammu, May 24 (PTI) A senior officer in Employees Provident Fund Organisation on Tuesday visited the families of two local labourers who were among 10 killed recently in a tunnel mishap in Ramban district and assured pension to their dependents.
Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh’s Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I Rizwan Uddin reached out to the family members of deceased workers Mohammad Muzaffar and Ishrat for assisting them in claiming their eligible provident fund, insurance and pension benefits under the EPF & MP Act, 1952 and the schemes framed there-under.
The two along with eight workers from outside J&K were killed when a landslide hit one end of an under-construction tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Khooni Nallah on Friday.
The RPFC–I along with his team visited NHAI’s Project Implementation Unit-Ramban office to facilitate the families of deceased employees, an official spokesperson said.
He said the PF Commissioner visited the spot and met with families of workers who lost their lives in the project (Construction of twin-tube tunnels from Digdole to Panthyal).
He assured them of every possible benefit in availing their eligible PF, pension and insurance benefits, the spokesperson said.
The PF Commissioner also asked NHAI and Messrs Sarla Projects Works Private Ltd’s representatives to submit the duly filled forms along with requisite documents to the regional office in Hyderabad as the establishment where the workers were employed was registered under the EPFO Regional Office, Hyderabad, the spokesperson said.
He said the PF Commissioner also visited village Panthyal, Ramban by walking over two kilometres through the tough terrains to facilitate the submission of composite forms for pension, Insurance and PF.
“The nominee/widow and children of the two members prima facie appear to be entitled to the pension. Besides that, the nominee will get Insurance and PF accumulations with interest,” the spokesperson said. PTI TAS 4/17/2022 RAX RAX
