New Delhi: It’s a song that brought onscreen lovers together. Now, 63 years after its release, it is the subject for a unique cross-border collaboration.
One of Bollywood’s classic ‘Golden Era’ songs, “Dil ki nazar se, nazron ki dil se, ye baat kya hai, ye raaj kya hai, koi hamen bata de”, from the 1959 film Anari, featured Raj Kapoor and Nutan. In the movie, he falls in love with her not knowing she’s the niece of his boss.
A soulful duet sung by the late Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh, it has now been brought back to life by Indian YouTuber Paushali Sahu and Farrukh Javed, an amateur singer from Lahore, Pakistan.
The two collaborated and published a video Saturday, which has so far gained 12,000 views on Twitter alone.
“We have been friends since many years. Our singing journey together began on a music community named “Smule” where we sang few songs together,” Javed told ThePrint, referring to a popular Karaoke app, adding, “Fortunately enough, we both like singing old Hindi songs specially of Rafi Sb, Kishore Da, Mukesh Sb, Lata Ji and more so decided to collaborate few timeless duets.”
“Dil ki nazar Se, Nazron ki dil se. This beautiful song by the timeless Lata-Mukesh duo from #Anari takes us back to simpler times,with a beaming Nutan and Raj Kapoor buoyant in love. Javed also shared the post, writing, “All it takes is an old song to bring back a thousand memories.”

A ‘magical’ performance
Among the enduring hit duets by Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh, the collaboration by Sahu and Javed is gaining appreciation from both countries.
