CWC wins Global WaterTech Award for water management

The Central Water Commission (CWC) has been awarded the GEEF Global WaterTech Award 2024 by the Global Energy and Environment Foundation (GEEF) for its efforts in the areas of water resources management, flood forecasting, coastal area management, and more, a PIB press release stated.

The award was given under the category ‘Water Department of the Year’ at the GEEF Global Water Tech Summit -2024 organised by the Global Energy and Environment Foundation (GEEF) in New Delhi. The GEEF Global Awards 2024 recognises the most important achievements in the water sector in several categories.

The Commission was praised for its pivotal role in collecting hydro-meteorological data, forecasting floods, monitoring water quality, and managing coastal resources. The CWC also received recognition for the new initiatives it has taken, such as building capacity of state officials in the field of Extended Hydrological Prediction (EHP) and developing a mobile app ‘Floodwatch India’ for disseminating flood-related information to the public.
