Mumbai, Jun 28 (PTI) One person was held in connection with the coaching class sexual harassment case in Maharashtra’s Beed district, a police official said on Saturday.
On Thursday, two male teachers of a coaching centre were booked by Shivajinagar police there for allegedly molesting and sexually harassing a 17-year-old female student between July 30, 2024 and May 25, 2025, he said.
“The two accused are absconding. We have apprehended the 34-year-old relative of one of the accused for helping him flee. He had ferried the accused in his four-wheeler, which has been seized as part of the probe. He has been issued a notice to appear in court,” the official said.
As per the girl’s complaint, the two teachers used to call her to the office of the coaching centre, force her to strip and would then indulge in obscene acts with her.
The two absconding teachers have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), 76 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to disrobe or compel her to be naked), 78 (stalking), 3(5) (common intention) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Efforts are on to nab them, the official added. PTI DC BNM
