Agra: In a shocking incident, a group of youth allegedly blindfolded a 21-year-old man and shot him in the head in Agra on Monday evening. A case of murder has been registered against four people at Agra’s Bah police station after the youth died during medical treatment on Wednesday.

Kuldeep Kumar Dixit, inspector in-charge, Bah police station, told ThePrint that on Monday night the police received information that a 21-year-old man, identified as Abhishek, had been beaten and badly injured by some people in Bijauli village of Bah.

Later, he was rescued and taken to the Bah Community Health Centre, from where he was referred to the District Hospital, Agra, as his condition deteriorated. On Monday night, police registered a case against unknown youths under sections 323 and 308 of the IPC.

When Abhishek regained consciousness, he told the police that he had gone to the Bah village library on Monday evening. When he reached there, four youths approached him and started assaulting him. They later blindfolded him and shot him in the head.

Such violent incidents are not isolated, as seen in other recent cases in the region, including a tragic murder that occurred inside a mosque in Agra. This highlights the ongoing issues of crime and safety in the area, which have raised significant concerns among the local community. This video of Abhishek’s statement has gone viral on social media. When his condition did not seem to improve, a CT scan was done on Wednesday, and a bullet could be seen stuck in his head. In the night, he was operated on at a private hospital, but he couldn’t survive.

Dori Lal, Abhishek’s father, told ThePrint that Abhishek had left for the library to study at 8pm but did not return home. At 10pm, they received the information that he had been found lying in a pool of blood near the village’s water tank. They immediately reached the spot and called the police.

Dixit said that after the young man’s death, the charges in the case have now been moved from assault to murder, and raids are being conducted to search for the accused.
