123 FIRs registered for Delhi violence, 630 people arrested or detained

Delhi Police has also held nearly 330 peace committee meetings across various districts in the last two days as a confidence-building measure.

New Delhi: A total of 123 FIRs were registered and 630 people were either arrested or detained so far in connection with the northeast Delhi communal violence, the Delhi Police spokesperson said on Friday.

Delhi Police spokesperson Mandeep Singh Randhawa also said forensic science laboratory teams have been called in and the crime scenes are being revisited.

According to an MHA official, nearly 7,000 Central Para-Military Forces have been deployed in the affected areas. Delhi Police has also deployed three Special CPs, six Joint CPs, one Additional CP, 22 DCPs, 20 ACPs, 60 Inspectors, 1,200 other ranks and 200 women personnel.

The death toll in Delhi’s communal violence has gone up to 42.

As a confidence-building measure, Delhi Police has organised nearly 330 peace committee meetings in various districts in the last two days.
