Mumbai, Mar 2 (PTI) Marathi films which win national awards will get double the amount of subsidy given by the Maharashtra government, Culture Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar told the Legislative Council here on Thursday.
For the last many years, Marathi filmmakers get subsidy if they comply with certain conditions.
“Marathi films which win national awards would get double the amount of the regular subsidy by way of appreciation. The subsidy would be given within three months,” the minister said.
He was responding to a question by Vilas Potnis.
“Some changes are proposed in the subsidy policy. Inspirational movies would get a subsidy of more than Rs 1 crore, Mungantiwar said.
During Uddhav Thackeray’s tenure as chief minister, as many as 392 films were not reviewed by the concerned government panel, he said, adding that there is only one theatre available for reviewing films and another will be constructed. PTI ND KRK KRK
