New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to showcase the contributions of women scientists in the defence research and development (R&D) sector during the 75th Republic Day Parade, according to a statement by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Wednesday.

The DRDO contingent at the parade will feature a tableau, themed ‘Women power in protecting the nation by providing the defence shield in all five dimensions namely Land, Air, Sea, Cyber, and Space’. The tableau will depict the contributions of women scientists in the development of advanced weapons and combat vehicles, as well as in the field of cyber and space.

The tableau will showcase the Agni-5 surface-to-surface ballistic missile, the Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile (MPATGM), the Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Missile, the Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS), the Naval Anti-Ship Missile (NASM-SR), the Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA’, the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM), the Astra light combat aircraft ‘Tejas’, the ‘Uttam’ Active Electronically Scanned Array Radar (AESAR), the Advanced Electronic Warfare System (Shakti), and cyber security systems.

The display of the Agni-5 missile, the MPATGM, the VSHORADS, and the QRSAM highlights the indigenous development of advanced weapons and combat vehicles that are capable of countering a wide range of threats from both conventional and modern sources.
