Goa: Creators of the Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky and Malhar India Craft Gin, John Distilleries registered yet another stellar showing at the Soho India Wine & Spirits Awards.
‘Paul John Pedro Ximénez’ won the Best Indian Single Malt Whisky award and was named Best in Show. The expression is part of the Select Cask range and is matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Paul John Oloroso received a Gold Medal in the Indian Single Malt Whisky category. It is matured in Oloroso sherry casks and is part of the Select Cask series.
Malhar Citrus Indian Craft Gin won Best Indian Contemporary Gin and was also named Best in Show. The gin is made with citrus peels, botanicals and juniper.
More than 400 brands competed across categories at the awards, John Distilleries said in a press statement, adding that the results followed evaluation across the entries and that the wins were part of its portfolio performance at the event.
The awards were organised by Sonal Holland, India’s only Master of Wine and a leading expert in the alcobev industry, and judged by industry panels.
Paul John single malts are distilled in Goa, matured in ex-bourbon casks and contain no additives, the statement said.
It added that the brand uses six-row barley sourced from regions including Rajasthan and Haryana and from the foothills of the Himalayas. Launched in 2012, Paul John is available in 49 countries and the company says the label has won more than 350 awards.
Sazerac Company, the largest family-owned distilled spirits company in the US, is an active stakeholder in John Distilleries which was established in 1996 under Paul P John.
