BlockDAG Beats Pi, Hedera & Shiba Inu as the Clear Top Crypto for 2025

Picking the top crypto for 2025 isn’t about following trends or looking at hype. It’s about checking real adoption, measurable growth, and proven ability to execute before big launches. Investors today have more options than ever, but only a few projects are standing out for actually showing results instead of pushing promises down the line.

Four names stand in the spotlight right now: BlockDAG, Pi, Hedera, and Shiba Inu. Each has its own approach to adoption and growth. But when you compare progress side by side, the differences are clear. Some are still building the basics, others are pushing institutional use cases, while one is scaling with live mining and has raised hundreds of millions secured before its official mainnet.

1. BlockDAG: Awakening Testnet, Miners Live, Nearly $410M Raised

BlockDAG is not asking holders to wait until the mainnet to see results. Its Awakening Testnet is going live on September 25, rolling out account abstraction, UTXO removal, explorer tools, miner integration with Stratum, and early groundwork for EIP-4337.

The adoption story is just as big. More than 3 million people are already mining BDAG through the X1 App, making it one of the largest mobile mining ecosystems in the industry. At the same time, BlockDAG has sold nearly 20,000 X-Series miners across 130+ countries, with shipping capacity scaling to 2,000 units per week.

This combination of live adoption, real hardware, and technical delivery explains why BlockDAG has raised almost $410M in presale from 312,000+ holders, adding $40M in just the past month. Interestingly, the BDAG coin’s price has been slashed to just $0.0013 in celebration of its upcoming BDAG Deployment Event, making entry more accessible than ever. The presale is still active, meaning holders have one last entry point before the price jumps.

2. Pi Network: Progress With Protocol, But No Open Access

Pi Network has been working on its infrastructure upgrades, moving from version 19 to version 23 this September. This brings improvements like better on-chain controls and closer alignment with Stellar’s progress. The release of Linux node software has also opened the door for broader participation, making Pi less dependent on mobile apps alone.

But the problem hasn’t changed: Pi still doesn’t have open mainnet access, and its coins remain locked. The last official number of KYC’d users was over 12 million back in mid-2024, and progress since then hasn’t been officially updated. Many in the community are frustrated with delays and the lack of liquidity, and while the protocol upgrade is meaningful, it won’t solve the bigger issue.

3. Hedera: Institutional Wins, But Slow Pace

Hedera Hashgraph scored an important milestone in early September when Wyoming’s Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), the first state-issued stablecoin in the US, chose Hedera as one of its supported networks. This is a big validation of Hedera’s focus on governance, compliance, and public-sector partnerships.

Still, Hedera’s growth depends heavily on enterprise and government deals, which take time to materialize. While HBAR has held market value fairly well, its community adoption isn’t expanding at the same explosive rate as newer projects like BlockDAG. Hedera is solid for the long term, but it doesn’t give the same short-term energy that makes something like BlockDAG feel like the top crypto for 2025.

4. Shiba Inu: Transaction Records, But Burn Weakness

Shiba Inu’s ecosystem through Shibarium has hit major milestones, with total transactions surpassing 1.56 billion by September. That’s an impressive number that shows users have engaged with the network. But digging deeper, daily transaction counts slipped to around 20,000 in early September, which is a sharp slowdown from earlier activity.

Burn activity is also slowing, with September data showing drops of more than 90% in some weeks. This weakens one of SHIB’s biggest narratives about reducing supply and driving long-term value. Price discussions now center on stabilization near key averages, with little new adoption or utility pushing the story forward. SHIB still has one of the strongest meme communities in crypto, but it is not delivering meaningful new growth.

Conclusion

The competition for the top crypto for 2025 highlights which projects are moving forward with real results. Pi Network continues its upgrades, but hasn’t solved its biggest barrier: locked coins and no mainnet. Hedera is showing it can win institutional trust, but those partnerships grow slowly. Shiba Inu maintains a loyal base, but burns are slowing, and daily activity is falling. Each has something to offer, but none match the urgency of what’s happening with BlockDAG.

With 3 million mobile miners, nearly 20,000 hardware miners sold, 312,000 holders, and almost $410M raised in presale, BlockDAG is proving to be the top crypto for 2025 and beyond.
