Merely 5% of Indian population which are Brahmin and Baniyas combined.. wants to grab 100% resources of the country.. they believe that rest 95% people are fools. These people don’t believe in representation of other people. Ultimately they desire to be mauled by the rest 95% through massive retaliation of their oppressive acts performed through ownership of over 70% of country’s wealth and command over all sectors. These people use invisible Reservation.. the Sharma ji + Garg ji types.
Good to see meaningful comments, and ofcourse the regular bashing of healthy discussions by propaganda machinery. Respected sirs, (including the authors and The Hindu and The Print editors), a large section of us, the general category aspirants, do support reservations, they are necessary for bringing equality. But we demand rationalization of the reservation criteria. Let the benefits reach the deserved. Do not be vindictive of the injustice done in the past, you will end up repeating the cycle. Let us not fall prey to the vested interests of the nation, and together let us make India great again. Hope you will understand
Some of the comments, carping and abusive, are irrelevant to the point.
That performances of MGNREGA the recruits thro’ affirmative actions have been found at par with those who secured the IAS thro’ fierce competition is proved by a study of scholars who are free from biases India usually suffer. This is the most shinning and important point.
Some time back another study in Indian Railways had revealed that reservation in recruitment of personnel in the railways has not at all adversely affected the efficiency in operations, administration, target achievement, safety or punctuality, etc. The study, if my memory serves me well, was undertaken by experts from IIT, Kharagpur alongwith an expert from a reputed American University.
Creamy layer in the IAS? Yes, do it by all means.
Reservation was introduce to give the untouchables a share in the power and administration so that untouchability madly praticed and prevalent across the country is abolished. Legally untouchability is abolished, but has India really walked it past?
Till the last untouchable of India does not utter a candid verdict on this, our claim of India free from untouchability is not trustworthy.
Anoher point which can never be studied is this: The ideas lost which would have come by the officers, if all were from “Merit”. Because all the officers were not ‘meritous’, India lost all the great initiatives that would have been taken by these officers. Imagine a brilliant officer just could not qualify and “affirmative officer” got in his place. Does he bring the same initiatives, same zeal, same enthusiam,
What is happening is that these brilliant ppl who could not qualify due to 0.5 marks now go to USA/UK and bring prosperity to these countries!!!
The Print just like The Hindu is biased in its assessment on the issue of reservation. Its time we openly discuss the issue of reservation. The point is creamy layer category needs to be introduced in case of SC/ST reservation. I’d really like The Print to justify how Tina Dhabi or Ashok Kumar Meena deserved reservation & not a general category aspirant whose father is guard at Lucknow University.
So why exam necesarry for a job any whether educated or not can get job …..who have the jack should get jack…let poor die bcz no role of education …so why americans stopping our indian coming to usa bcz of talent…so why it is so….first implement over this onurself then come and talk
Just one scheme decides if you are a quality officer? What next? Are we recruiting all round officers or managers of MNREGA?Then why not have a small UPSC recruitment for this alone?
Those who are/were suffering alone can sense/realize/understand the sufferings/predicaments of others.
This is a simple truth.
A country like India needs humanitarian/magnanimous/large hearted bureaucrats and not competitive/most brilliant/intelligentsia aristocrats who know only law/rule/protocols/precedence of rulings.
The work of district administrator can’t be assessed by looking at outcome of just one program. A district collector looks after several programs at the same time and the cumulative outcome is very hard to assess in the manner in which this paper attempts with MGNREGS program. Moreover there are regional variations which brings significant inherent bias in terms of outcome, irrespective of the officer posted. Therefore any conclusions drawn under this veil of science, in the manner in which this paper tries to attempt, is nothing but pseudoscience. This research looks dubious. The conclusion appear to be politically motivated.
The real efficacy of an officer is known by his/her peers, political executives and subordinates. You should maybe incorporate their experiences and understanding in seeking the right approach to carry out this analysis. Thanks.
