Very well written Prateek Yadav ‘Currently, the rise of an authoritarian China as the global superpower is threatening the very foundations of democratic ideals, civil liberties and human rights. In such a scenario, India should act as a saviour of democracy, which will help it in gaining the moral high ground as the only viable alternative to China. Democracy is India’s real soft power against China.’
China has veered to aggressive nationalism, territorial expansion, and fascist incarceration of the Uighurs, and there is distaste building up. Western nations had imagined and hoped India can be a counterweight to China – certainly that was the optimism about India in 2005 (MMS period). India had all the natural ingredients : size, market, and the capacity to step in as part of a diversified supply chain. At that time, there were many glowing hopes in the western press. Modi was given benefit of the doubt for 2 years but as news spread about lynchings and hate crimes, India gets a consistently bad press. Westerners are seeing in India a govt. that wants to be more like Mynamar than like a liberal democracy. They are alarmed as they see the danger of a communal tinder box that can slide into civil war creating refugees.
The country is heading for break up unless the young like you come out and reject Hindutva.
Both the terms used “andolanjeevis” and “parjeevis” is an apt fit to these parasites. These parasites don’t have any solutions to offer in developing the country. The only thing these parasites know is thriving out of other miseries and making a living out of it. All these parasites call themselves activists and use democracy as the garb to attack the host. Shame that these parasites expect respect for what they do, the only thing these parasites do is protest, protest, protest.
