I enjoyed reading the article , my thoughts did not veer ,for or against anyone ,while reading the article. The author has rightly pointed out the fact , different classes of human beings, have different classes of privileges even for aspirations. And unfortunately this has been the way for all civilizations for all times. Covid merely highlighted what was always a grim reality for our society.
Migrant workers, contract workers, day workers are our informal workers are the backbone of Indian economy and also the very people who make our lives happiest and most comfortable — those who make and serve food, make tea, sell fruits and vegetables, clean streets, delivering takeaways, cutting hair in salons, — are now the ones most under threat of unemployment, starvation, trying to find care for their children and their health as any human beings and look for work and take care of family responsibilities are NOW somehow supposed to have less need than others. You can’t abandon them, say food is all they and then arrogantly call this NATURAL Selection.
When there is a shortage of coronavirus testing. It is politicians, celebrities and rich & connected got testing done. This is natural. RIGHT?
Plight of informal workers in India is like that of African Americans people in USA as they are more affected by the pandemic. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said during briefing – “The crisis is “shining a bright light on how unacceptable” those disparities are – In India this holds good for informal workers.
Prashant Bhushan goes to the courts to get money. Now there is a fake argument about why food is not enough.
This is how democracy is bypassed by our elites. Not the author, not Prashant Bhushan, and not even the courts have a right to spend public money. This is a fake argument. There are many priorities on how the money should be spent. Should these be decided by people with a single agenda? Who empowered Prashant Bhushan or the judges to make these decisions? This is all part of an overreach that has destroyed democracy and governance.
73 days, to be precise, was the lockdown in Wuhan where few Keralites also lived there in a room, never spoken to anyone, getting only food supplies and today he came out and said it was the best think. This is the same place, famously known for virus. And there is not additional case coming for the past 3 weeks in Wuhan. Our liberando thinks, govt should also provide light entertainment and other pleasures apart from food to the labours.
But isn’t govt forcing light entertainment on us like tali bajao diya jalao.
