No one in a Democratic country has the right to destroy any place of worship by force or any other means. India is a Republic. Advani and some other fanatics have proved that might is right and that for them,India is a banana Republic.
Excellent article. Hindu community needs to know that there are verifiable claims to the site, both by literary and archaeological sources.
Demolishing a mosque by a mob was certainly a horrific act. But equally painful are the acts of destroying a temple and building mosques over it.
Historical injustices if not corrected will continue to simmer and divide the nation. Also, minorities must be reassured that they are equal citizens with full religious rights, once this present issue is resolved amicably.
Would you destroy a temple if it was built over a mosque?
Namaskar J,
As an orthodox member of the Sanatana Dharma, let me answer your question without equivocation. Suppose a masjid has been built on its own right, without any encroachment. Suppose you were to purchase a piece of land, for argument’s sake, a piece of agricultural property, and upon it build a masjid, a place of worship. There is a procedure recognized in the Sanatana Dharma for consecrating such a place of worship. It then becomes very sacred to all, and especially to members of the Sanatana Dharma. By no means, under any circumstances, would that masjid be destroyed and a temple built in its place. Should some conquering king do so in his madness, it would be adharma, and all orthodox brahmans would oppose this. Please read the life history of Ma Anandamayi and her residence at the Shahbagh estate gardens, and her relations with the tomb of a pir there. You will have a clue, and kindly understand the role someone like Ma Anandamayi has played within the Sanatana orthodoxy. Do you really understand an iota of the conventions and rigid rules that regulate the Sanatana orthodoxy to this day? Thank your stars you are born in this holy land.
Ask yourself this simple question: what do you truly understand of the Jati, varna and ashrama dharma that is not explained to you via a hostile source dedicated to its extinction? Do you subscribe to expositions of Muhammad’s life that begin with describing him as a pedophile? WHY NOT? Technically, as per those same liberal seculars, who expound on the Sanatana Dharma, he is. Since those liberal seculars view the universe through their own particular brand of exclusionary, partisan intolerance, if you wish to side with them on some issues, you will have to buy the whole hog [pun intended].
Abrahamic faiths, including Islam, tend to be strongly exclusionary. Is lam applauds the destruction of the “unbeliever” and the establishment of its own forms of worship as hewing to the will of its own Deity. Hence, it encourages and excuses all manner of excess, including the practice of ganit maal. What would you feel if that practice was extended to your own family, your daughters, using the same logic, by another group, claiming the imprimatur of another Deity? Muscle power justified Islam. Including and ESPECIALLY the history of the Sufis in India are soaked in Blood. Read A.D. Rafiqui’s Sufism in Kashmir. Sufi History in eastern India is a cause for shame for all who talk of Sufism as a code for peace and loving -kindness, and “Hinduism” as THE EVIL to be extirpated from the earth.
Is there any description in texts of 15th century ? Why does Baburnama doesnt have any description of above written ? Why there is no description in hindu texts of contemporary era like Ramcharitra Manas by Tulsidasji ? Why didnt hindu awakening icon swami vivekanandji raised voice for it?
Since you have published this article, fairness demands that it is followed by articles of non-hindu historians. The claims of Buddhists should also be published. Articles should also be published about capture and conversion of Jain temples of South India into Hindu temples.

Even if this was true, that does not justify the demolition of the Babri Masjid. It was a place of worship, had stood secure for more than 450 years.
