All religious educational institutions should be abolished .every student should be brought under same roof of modern education.this is the only way to progression.otherwise religious fanatics will pass out through these institutes
Both the authors seem to be joking. As a dialogue in the opening scene of “THE NEWSROOM” says – The first step in solving any problem is to recognise that there is a problem.
First, devout muslims are under the delusion of divine constant i.e they refuse to believe that religion needs to change to changing circumstances [which was actually advocated in the Baghdad caliphate between 10th – 12 th centuries due to which it reached the pinnacle of scientific & medical progress in the world.]
Second, they understand their scriptures literally not allegorically or symbolically and hence, no amount of real world tours or extra curricular activities will help them because their final compass point remains the scriptures and deny real world physics and events.
Third, even if any outsider tries to explain things rationally to them and point out the fallacies in the logic of their prophet or scriptures in the same way other religions are criticised, the first response is threat of violence.
Fourth, even if non-muslims do a tit for tat in retaliation to insults to their own religion, the result is violence on behalf of the muslims as we have seen in the Muslim riots. You have also forgotten how the Tablighis behaved with the doctors in the quarantine centres. By the way, please go through the principles of the Tablighi movement. It clearly mentions that muslims should not show respect to anyone other than another practising muslim. There is a similar quote in the quran itself which Zakir Naik explained in one of his sessions.
For your information, the Quran prescribes a different greeting for muslims and for non-muslims and Zakir Naik clearly explained the differences between the two. When the scriptures themselves cannot be corrected, how can the people following them be corrected. In complete contrast is the honorable interpretation of their scriptures by Salahuddin who conquered Jerusalem for them but just because he was a Kurd and respected even by his Christian enemies and remained honourable to the end, he is not talked about in any Madrassa in the whole world.
Only Christian & Jewish historians admire him and his interpretation & implementation of the Quran in his life and empire and have written several books about him. Google for books about Saladin and you will see how many were written by whom.
I really do not understand how you people became intellectuals. Now I remember, you wrote the textbooks that fooled us all these years in the name of secularism. Yes that is it.
Atleast now, muslim intellectuals and their non-muslim supporters need to be honest with themselves & their own religion rather than tell other religions and demand other religions to support your religion. If your religion is so great, then why can’t you take care of yourself.
You also fail to explain that how, after ruling the major part of India, Pakistan & Bangladesh for nearly a millenium and causing so much destruction and genocide, it is the religion of the rulers themselves which has ended up impoverished among all the communities settled in India. Maybe, that is another place you need to look into before dictating terms to other communities under emotional blackmail and bogey of terrorism.
All INDIANS irrespective of their religion must be given modern scienctific education.
Religious education if it teaches hatred towards non believers or idol worshippers which leads to RIOTS based on rumours of blasphemy should be banned.
Education which encourages community to fight wars which has nothing to do with INDIA or opposes population control measures on basis of religion ignoring the welfare and prosperity of INDIA should be banned
All INDIANS must be taught that there are BILLIONS OF GALAXIES and BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS OF PLANETS and make sure that no Indian is devoid of natural curiosity which is exactly the opposite what fundamentalist religious teaching imparts to young minds.
Good article. But will Muslims welcome any changes to the current system? I don’t think so. You can expect another huge protest if government try to bring reforms. Only possible if Muslims give up their imagenery fear and rigidness and start trusting the government.
What a joke! Govt should only support modern schools and modern education. Madrasa education makes boys religious fanatics and girls baby making machine.
Madrasas are not the way forward. Muslims must voluntarily invest in acquiring knowledge in science and maths to improve their employbilty instead of doing rote learning of a seventh century religious text.
They certainly are a thought-influencers, just that the issue is with the ‘thought’ they’re preaching.
Ideally government should close down all madaris and make them illegal. Muslim children should also have access to modern education and productive careers.

We need thought provokers and not thought-influencers that is where the problem lies.
