New Delhi: A Filipino man has named his son HTML, to honour his love for the Internet and his profession as a web designer. And together, they are breaking the web and social media.
The newborn’s aunt, a user named ‘Sincerely Pascual’ from Bulacan in the Philippines, took to Facebook to share this news. The caption read: ‘Welcome to the world HTML’ — the child’s full name is Hypertext Markup Language Rayo Pascual.
The post has since gone viral, garnering 12.4K likes and 2.2K comments.
Uniquely naming babies is apparently a trend that runs in baby HTML’s family. His father’s name is Mac Pascual, short for Macaroni 85. There is another sister whose name is Spaghetti 85. Spaghetti has two children, with equally unique names — Cheese Pimento and Parmesan Cheese. But it doesn’t end here, these children have cousins who are named Design and Research.
Amused, many users took to Twitter to share their views and remarks, with many recalling how Elon Musk named his baby X Æ A-Xii.

Defending the family’s choices, HTML’s aunt posted in another message: “People are so pathetic for normalising bullying because of the name.”
On people’s concerns about the boy could be bullied when he starts going to school because of his name, she hit back: “Don’t worry, Hypertext Markup Language doesn’t make sense to preschool and gradeschoolers. And in any case he gets bullied, don’t worry, guys, WE CAN MANAGE. Teach yourself and your kids to accept the reality & to respect that not all people have usual names RATHER THAN TEACHING MY FAMILY WHAT AND WHAT NOT TO NAME OUR KIDS.”
