No longer can anyone find you just by typing in a few lines on the internet and getting results. There are many, many seemingly identical businesses out there looking to grab viewers and hits. Remember the golden rule for content: You’ve already heard the expression ‘content is king’, and it’s totally true, especially for website traffic. You’ll want to have quality content on your website and then scatter in the right keywords and phrases to get the interest you deserve. Don’t forget graphics and videos, too, to help customers enjoy your website. It’s much more likely that they’ll share the website link with others too if they enjoy their time there. Also, when you are posting content on social media, remember the rules. Dabble in emojis and hashtags and keep refining your approach for sharing content on each platform to generate views you deserve.

Give your audience respect and comfort: If your goal is simply to make money, then you aren’t really respecting your customer. You’ll want to make sure you are representing the right business practices and products or services: ones that you would want to take on yourself and know that they are worth your time or money. Tricking your customer into paying for something they don’t want, or feeling like your website is ‘sketchy’ with the number of calls to action will not win you traffic. They already know that you want their money, so you don’t need to keep reminding them.

Give them a freebie: One thing to get people coming to you is a freebie. Maybe it’s a short e-book, or maybe it’s an actual item that you are selling. Perhaps it’s even something like a free consultation. Whatever that freebie is, make sure it’s connected to what you do and that it’s worth people’s time. This will get your website attention — the good kind — and it’ll help you get a lot more interest, too. Plus, it shows that you’re the real deal.

Keep refreshing your website: Your website content — keywords, graphics, videos and actual web content — is never ‘done’. There will always be edits and updates needed to keep customers interested. This is especially important so that you learn what works and what doesn’t.
