The hyperlocal discovery platform migrates its HR services to the HROne platform to power improved employee experiences and better engagement.

For organisations that deal with a large partner network to power their business models, their people strategy can strongly affect their  topline. Magicpin is one such organisation, which runs a digital platform to bring hyperlocal brands and stores to online customers at the lowest costs. In an effort to transform its HR operating model, Magicpin partnered with HROne to bring automation, improve employee satisfaction, and elevate its talent acquisition workflows.

A closer look at Magicpin’s culture

Magicpin is a growth-oriented organisation that is characterised by a flat culture. It fosters innovative ideas by enabling employees to participate in strategic initiatives and discussions, and their leadership invites ideas and inputs from employees with all levels of experience and expertise. In addition, it also brings a strong focus on employee retention, with a 360-degree approach to employee experience.

When talking about the culture at Magicpin, Umang Jolly, People Leader at Magicpin said “We revolve around our three core values – ownership, frugality, and curiosity…but over and above this, we also want to ensure that we are offering the right kind of experiences to employees at every stage. We connect with our employees to understand how they are assimilating with the overall culture at different checkpoints.

Such workplaces have a strong need for platforms that enable not just cross-functional collaboration, but also organic engagement. Moreover, growing organisations risk losing focus on strategic initiatives when their HR workflows run in the manual mode. Magicpin sought to leverage automation across all avenues of HR workflows, while simplifying workflows with a simple and intuitive platform.

Magicpin’s HR transformation: key highlights

When Magicpin embarked on its HR transformation journey, it scouted for solutions that would not only fit well into its organisational culture, but also advance it along their core values.

Recounting the vendor assessment process, Umang said, “When evaluating platforms and solutions in the market, there were a couple of things that made us feel confident about HROne. Firstly, the UI is good, and everything gets done in just 3 clicks… in other tools, there was a lot of navigation involved in the workflows. Secondly, there is Inbox for HR to keep track of tasks, The landing page is really interesting and R&R features to increase engagement levels.

Because HR teams at various organisations adopt differing processes and methodologies to drive and measure their processes, flexibility can strongly impact the outcome of adopting a new HR platform.

By opting for HROne, Magicpin was able to ensure that their teams need not force-fit the tool into their workflows. Umang said, “There is a lot of flexibility across features…for instance, there are multiple ways to use the PMS module. There are balanced scorecards, OKRs, MBO model…this is important, as it lets us enable our own methodology.

Enabling a seamless transition

Magicpin’s HR teams wanted to ensure a smooth transition to the new platform without disrupting any existing workflows. This meant that data from the old platform had to be migrated with consistency and completeness. To this end, Magicpin prepared a checklist along with the HROne team, and did multiple reviews to understand if they were missing out on any existing data.

After the migration was carried out, Magicpin wanted to ensure that each employee was fluent with its new HR platform. Umang said, “We wanted HROne to train our employees and managerial roles in the platform and its features. We are glad to say that HROne continues to support us with this.”

Mapping the automation boon

When discussing the impact of their HR transformation, Umang highlighted the role of HROne in improving their workflows. She said, “Now, everything is automated, and no manual intervention is required anymore. The Applicant Tracking System offers 360-degree coverage, and the ability to make announcements and cheer colleagues is an amazing feature that empowers employee engagement even without any intervention from the HR.”

Commenting on the partnership, Karan Jain, Founder, HROne, said, “We are really excited about our partnership with Magicpin, and are pleased to have enabled an impactful transformation of their HR function… we are committed to delivering more innovative features and transform HR function for our customers.”

Incremental adoption on the horizon

Talking about their future roadmap in the context of their HR transformation, Umang said that the team plans to adopt more HROne modules in the coming days. She said, “They (HROne) have really gone into depth in every module, and there are a lot of functionalities available…which comes out to be a great overall package and brings in delightful experiences for our employees.” She aims to involve other stakeholders in the adoption of features in the newly-implemented platform, to ensure complete integration of HROne in the company’s culture.
