Women with large breasts can experience physical discomfort, which can hamper their routine lifestyle and lower their self-esteem. However, cosmetic surgery has made it possible for women to have proportionally sized breasts that enhance their looks and boost their confidence levels.

A breast reduction surgery is recommended for cosmetic as well as medical benefits. Women with large-sized or asymmetrical breasts can seek a consultation with a certified cosmetic surgeon to resolve this condition.

Dr. Harikiran Chekuri, one of the leading cosmetic surgeons of Hyderabad and founder of ReDefine Plastic Surgery and Hair Transplant, has successfully performed breast reduction surgeries. “Cosmetic surgery is the only solution to resolve issues related to different sized breasts. Breast reduction surgery is safe and with long-lasting results. My patients are delighted with the results of the surgery. They regain their self-confidence and feel more positive,” he says.

One of the best plastic surgeons in Hyderabad, Dr. Chekuri shares a story of a 38-year-old female patient. The patient complained of asymmetrical breasts and swollen areolas. As required, the patient submitted results of routine pathological tests, chest X-ray, ECG, etc., accompanied by a physical examination. After examining her, he recommended a bilateral breast reduction procedure.

He removed the excess breast tissue and skin in a breast reduction procedure. He also repositioned the nipple and the dark skin around it. This surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes a few hours.

Dr. Chekuri explains that women with large or disproportionate breasts find it difficult to live normally. They suffer from back and neck pain along with nerve pain in the shoulder area due to the weight of the breast tissue. They find it difficult to exercise and play normally. Lastly, they could suffer from skin irritation and chafing too. The other major drawback is difficulty locating or shopping for the right sized and perfectly fitting apparel.

Breast asymmetries are of various types, such as one breast being visibly larger than the other, or both the breasts being of different shapes, or having nipples at varying heights or misshapen areolas, and so on.

He explains the reasons for asymmetrical or large-sized breasts, such as genetics and hormonal changes, especially high estrogen levels. Pregnancy and breastfeeding also lead to their enlargement. In addition, consumption of drugs such as anabolic steroids and marijuana can increase the breast tissue in women and men. Weight gain is yet another factor contributing to large-sized breasts.

Dr. Harikiran Chekuri advises that though breast reduction surgery is safe with quick recovery, patients need to choose the right time to perform it. It is possible for women to proceed with pregnancy and breastfeed after breast reduction surgery. Also, it is advisable to lose weight before the procedure as weight loss further reduces the size of the breasts.

Lastly, patients should take extra care in choosing an experienced and expert plastic surgeon who has performed such procedures earlier. At the same time, they should openly discuss their expectations from breast reduction surgery and understand the likely outcome of such surgeries.

After this surgery, women with proportionately sized breasts have expressed reduced physical discomfort and better sleep while returning to normal living accompanied by more self-confidence and esteem.

Dr. Harikiran Chekuri is one of the best cosmetic surgeons in Hyderabad and founder of ReDefine Hair Transplant & Plastic Surgery Centre, with its presence in Kothapet, Gachibowli and Kukatpally. He is available for consultation and appointments at all three branches. Interested patients can call on +91 9237 123456 for appointments and consultations.
