Too busy in your daily life and can’t take out time for yourself? The year 2022 has come with multiple long weekends. Consider choosing the earliest one for a 3-day vacation at luxury resorts in Udaipur. The royal time out will be rejuvenating, especially since it’s Udaipur, the capital of erstwhile Mewar. Here’s a 3-day itinerary to help you plan things easily.

Number of long weekends in 2022

There are multiple long weekends in 2022. These are around, Holi, Good Friday, Eid-ul-Fitar, Budha Purnima, Rath Yatra, Independence Day, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Milad-un-Nabi and Diwali.

Importance & benefits of taking a break

It’s necessary to take a break from the busy life and go out on a vacation to enjoy the bliss of nature and explore new things. Nature calms and relaxes you and helps improve your mental health. Trying something new boosts your creativity and often uplifts your productivity. If you visit with your partner/family, you can have some quality time together. When you return, you’re enriched with diverse experiences which give you a new outlook towards life.

Udaipur: Indulge in a royal time-out

Udaipur isn’t only the City of Lakes and the City of Dawn but most importantly, the capital of the erstwhile kingdom of Mewar. The city appears like a mirage with stunning marble palaces, large lakes, and beautifully planned gardens amidst the desert of Rajasthan. Encompassed by the Aravalis and sitting on the edge of 3 lakes, Udaipur is a marvellous kaleidoscope of narrow lanes dotted with palaces, lakes, gardens, temples, and bright stalls. Immerse yourself in a majestic experience while you tour the city of legendary Rajputs.

A 3-day Udaipur itinerary

Day one:

Start your first day with breakfast at your resort. Then head to Lake Pichola to enjoy boating in the fresh morning. The lake opens right at 10 am. This is one of the top places to visit in Udaipur. One of the islands in Lake Pichola is the Jag Mandir island with the Lake Palace. So, it’s a good idea to drop by this grand palace. A major part of it is now a museum. If you visit Udaipur a day before Holi, you can visit the City Palace in the evening to witness Mewar Holika Dahan.

Day two:

Start with Rajasthani breakfast. Then head to Lake Fateh Sagar. It lies on the foreground of the Aravalis and opens right at 9:30 am. Move higher up the Aravallis to reach the next nearby destination, the Monsoon Palace. Take time exploring the magnificent palace. Don’t leave before watching the sunset from there.

After returning to your resort, enjoy a Poolside Dinner on the terrace.

Day three:

If you love trekking, dedicate this day to that solely. After breakfast, pack the essentials and set off for Mount Abu. Trekking hours are from 10 am to 5 pm. After trekking, you’ll be tired. So, return to your resort and get a relaxing massage at spa.

Which long weekend is best suited for this holiday?

Holi! It’s the nearest long weekend and is in March. Besides, it’s celebrated for 2 days in Udaipur. Mewar Holika Dahan happens a day before Holi on the grounds of City Palace. The ruling Mewar royalty graces the event and lights the Holi pyre. The locals gather around the bonfire and perform a traditional folk dance called Gair. A large, colourful rally, including the royals seated on ornately decorated horses, elephants, and camels, follows. On the second day, locals rejoice with wet and dry colours on the streets. Resorts in Udaipur arrange for celebrations with refreshments, colours, and live DJ events.
