CAT 2022 registration open at iimcat.ac.in, avoid common mistakes & get free sample papers at Collegedunia

CAT 2022 registration started from August 3, 2022 through online mode. Candidates who are eligible and interested to apply for CAT 2022 registration can apply online on its official portal i.e. iimcat.ac.in. The last date to apply for CAT 2022 is September 14, 2022. CAT will be held this year on November 27, 2022. 

Applicants applying for the CAT 2022 exam are suggested to check the eligibility criteria before applying for CAT 2022. To be eligible to apply for CAT 2022 the candidates from the General category must have secured at least 50% of marks in the qualifying examination i.e. bachelor’s degree. Candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) must have secured at least 45% aggregate marks in graduation. 

Common Mistakes to Avoid During CAT 2022 Registration

Candidates shall be very careful while filling the online application form for CAT 2022. Though, the management might provide a chance for correction of application form but all the sections are not editable in the form correction window. Some of the common mistakes made by the candidates while filling the application form are stated below:

  1. Not using the correct browser: Not using the correct browser is one of the common mistakes that aspirants make while filling out the CAT registration form. Candidates should use the browser and its version as given in the instructions. For the registration process, the conducting body recommends the following browsers like Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Not having the required documents ready and handy: Not having the documents ready, while registering for CAT 2022, can significantly increase the chances of mistakes as the session expires due to the delay and inactive window. Before starting  CAT 2022 registration, candidates should confirm each detail of their registration form and shall keep their documents handy.  This will make the registration process much easier and trouble-free.
  3. Avoid using mobile phones to register: The registration process for CAT 2022 can be done by using a mobile switching the chrome browser to desktop mode. But candidates are asked to avoid the use of the mobile phone as the chances of making mistakes while filling out the registration form over phones are high. The browser may be stuck and difficulties might be faced while uploading the documents. 
  4. Incorrect Personal Details: Candidates should enter their Name, Father’s name, and Mother’s name and other personal details exactly as given in their certificates. Applicants should also be very careful while selecting their category in the CAT 2022 registration form. A single spelling mistake can lead to disqualification of candidature. 
  5. Enter Academic details correctly: In CAT 2022 registration form, candidates will be asked to enter their academic details like the Name of the school/ college, university/ board, percentage of marks, etc. Aspirants should make sure that they have entered the marks exactly as given in their certificates. Calculate the percentage properly as the section cannot be edited later. 
  6. Choosing the wrong exam centers: This year CAT 2022 exam will be conducted in 158 cities. In the CAT 2022 registration form, candidates will be given the option to choose at least 6 exam city centers. While aspirants usually get accommodated in the first choice, this may not always be the case always. So, candidates should choose all of the 6 exam centers very carefully. They should be put in the exam center that is most convenient to them as their first choice.
  7. Uploading signature and photograph in blurry images: Uploading signature and photograph is the last step of entering candidates’ personal details in the CAT 2022 registration form. The documents should be in JPEG format and the size of the document should not be more than 80KB each. 

Aspirants need to upload the scanned image of their signature within the dimensions of 80mm X 35mm and the photograph should be in the dimensions of 1200 pixels x 1200 pixels. Candidates should use any photograph with a white color background. The photograph should not be older than 6 months. Candidates will be required to attach the same photo to the admit card on the CAT exam day.

  1. Entering work experience incorrectly: In the CAT 2022 registration, aspirants will be asked to enter the details of their work experience (if any). But aspirants while filling out the CAT 2022 registration, should enter only full-time work experience after graduation. Any part-time work, pre-graduation work, or internships will be counted as zero experience.
  2. Not having a list of programs ready: Candidates will be asked to enter the choice of program in the CAT 2022 registration form. Without preferences, any of the choices can be made, aspirants can use the “Select All” checkbox to select all the programs. This is considered the best option made by the aspirants. It removes the difficulty of sorting through the courses and maximizes the chance of making the shortlist. However, aspirants will not be eligible for all of the programs that are available in each IIM. Therefore, it will be easy to have a list of courses ready, before making it easier while filling for CAT 2022 registration.
