Sacrilege has remained a central political issue in Punjab since the theft of a Guru Granth Sahib in Faridkot in 2015. The Akali Dal-BJP govt and Congress both proposed bills to strengthen Section 295A of IPC. Now, AAP has introduced a bill imposing 10 years to life imprisonment for sacrilege.
