Rahul Gandhi is a fifth-generation politician from the Nehru-Gandhi family, a senior Congress leader and party MP from Wayanad in Kerala.
His entry into politics happened in 2004 when he decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the family seat of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. He subsequently won three times from there but lost to the BJP’s Smriti Irani in 2019. However, Rahul Gandhi, remained an MP because he won the election from Wayanad. He became the Congress party chief in 2017 but quit from that post after the Congress’ disastrous show in the 2019 General Elections. Cutting across months of 2022, 2023 and 2024, Rahul Gandhi has taken out two yatras — the 3,750-km Bharat Jodo Yatra (from Kanniyakumari to Srinagar) and the 6,700-km Bharat Jodi Nyay Yatra (from Thoubal in Manipur to Mumbai).
1. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has made serious allegations against NDA government and in particular against PM Shri Narendra Modi as regards Rafale aircrafts deal. This promise of investigation into the Rafale aircrafts deal given by Rahul Gandhi is a meaningless promise. 2. We citizens know very well that such investigations will take anything from five years to a decade and nothing much will come out of such investigations. 3. I say that the Rafale aircrafts deal is just one instance of alleged corruption in defence deals. My question in this regard is very simple: Do Congress & other opposition parties wish that corruption in all fields, including defence deals, be curbed? Or they just wish to be in power by making allegations of corruption and win over gullible voters? 3. Citizens like me are not sure that the Congress President is really against corruption. Citizens think that (a) Shri Rahul Gandhi wishes to make use of allegations of corruption to seize power and (b) he is not at all serious about curbing corruption in defence deals or about curbing use of black money in elections. 4. Citizens wish that Shri Rahul Gandhi should make a public announcement about what the Congress led government would do about Rafale deal assuming that UPA govt. comes to power after 2019 Lok Sabha election. Would the Rafale deal be renegotiated, would it be cancelled, would those who are responsible in NDA government be tried for misuse of power? These questions are in citizens’ mind and they need a straight forward answer. Would Congress president give answers in national interest? Let us how he responds to questions from citizens like me.
Wah! What HYPOCRISY ! If the NDA/BJP comes to power in any state or at the center, and there is even a routine investigation into any past misdeeds, it is immediately dubbed “Political witch hunt” by the Congress. But Congress can openly threaten such investigations, and it is ‘JUSTICE and DEMOCRACY’ !!!
