The ex-ISI chief was punished not for disclosing any secret, but for analysing the tantalising event of the 2011 American operation in Abbottabad to kill Osama bin Laden.
The Indian Ambassador said this in response to Islamabad's UN envoy meeting Guterres to hand over the dossier from the Pakistan govt that alleged India was promoting terrorism.
In his book, Barack Obama described the various options of killing Osama bin Laden once it became clear that he was living in a safe hideout on the outskirts of Abbottabad.
The former US defence secretary Leon Panetta said he finds it difficult to believe that Pakistan wasn't aware of Osama bin Laden's Abbottabad compound.

The ‘idea’ Kejriwal's politics grew around was a no-holds-barred fight against corruption. That is the reason Modi govt has now tarred him and his entire party with the same paint.
“Echo chamber” eh! At a time, when entities like Srivastava Group with more than 265 tentacles are being discovered in Europe. You are worried about the echo chamber of the Pakistani army. Indian citizens should be furious about this discovery not because the disinformation campaign was against Pakistan but because it was used to deceive Indians to draw a narrative that was beneficial for some people in India. The echo chamber created by Srivastava Group in alliance with ANI and other media platforms disseminating disinformation for the past 15 years in the world, just to legitimize negative perception of Pakistan in INDIA shows the deceptive and dishonest nature of the Indian government and intelligence agencies.
The day Pakistan Army decided to take governance role after overthrowing civilian rule, it started the downward spiral. Now it’s mingled with all sorts of unprofessional activity like terrorism, illegal economic acivities, illegal anti-social activities. This will increasingly weakean Pakistan army to the point of no return until it crumbles under its own weight. India should do well to avoid any small skirmishes as it gives the Pakistani military some justification for its existence. If India decides to take action against Pakistan military, then it must be done with some strategic objective from which it’d be difficult for Pakistan military to come out.
It was a good read, but you eventually brought out the point of Indian Air Force Chief, which was completely unwarranted. Seems you are looking for some Masala to make the article spicy, and the comment creates a doubt on authenticity. If you have access to people, why don’t you check the points raised by the Indian Air Force Chief. Creative liberty is acceptable but within limits, not to push personal agenda. Treatment of retired Indian top brass cannot be compared with Pakistan. If I am wrong, please do write an article about that too. Thank you.
Exactly. The points raised by the IAF chief are valid and no one wants to have a laugh at the cost of the armed forces. Siddiqa has brought in an issue which is irrelevant to the topic she is focusing on.
Long live ISI, Pakistan and Imran Khan!!! Pak-China Friendship Zindabad!
This comment is proof of what Ayesha Siddiqa has written in the article.
From India’s perspective, its a wait and watch game. Eventually the embrace of the chinese serpent will be too much to bear for Pakistan and it will look to India for a way out.
“He ensured silence, but paid with his own life”
How are the above to things connected? Why was hanged for staying silent.
