Indian media is confronted with a big crisis today: its credibility is dwindling among people, the section from which it derives its power and independence.
Days after the 'fake news' list — with 3 Indian websites — was published, Poynter.org managing editor Barbara Allen said they found 'weaknesses' in methodology.
In this excerpt from the book 'A Game Changer's Memoir', ex-SEBI chief G.N. Bajpai revisits the times when, he writes, the Indian media published downright inaccurate and unverified news about the market regulator
There was so much misogyny and such oppression and humiliation of women in the many organisations I have worked at that M.J. Akbar was just one of them.
CJI Misra delivered the presidential address at an International Law Association event in New Delhi Wednesday. Here's the full text of his speech.
My esteemed peers,...
Pushp Sharma has been arrested twice in two separate cases, including for 'fabricating' a ministry's RTI reply. Sharma has claimed that both were false cases.
By dumbing down news, converting “debates” into circuses, and using loaded hashtags, the media has allowed the social contract guaranteeing its freedoms to fray.
The media’s tendency to draw political conclusions from the non-political activities of the RSS stems from a lack of understanding about its core beliefs.
Israel's response to Iran's retaliatory attack was relatively small and also downplayed by Tehran. But there are factors that could jeopardise this perceived reprieve.

Our vote is secret has gone for a six. Media has not bothered to assess candidates instead focused attention only on top leaders. Candidates this time used Modi mask to cover their real identity. When the so called surveyors go and whom did they vote, each one they may say different party. Let us be clear it was weak opposition in back drop of Pulwama, Balakot, religion, Nehruji and their families and EC came handy for even fool can predict who will win
Why should the voter be scared to tell the truth and identify himself?

First with Kejri, and next with Rahul, (and Priyanka Vadra) , the media played into their hands, giving them 24/7 ‘FREE’ and wide coverage, splashing their untruths and falsehoods as if they were Gospel, NEVER holding them to account and asking for details. They merely reported, never questioned. The media were meekly led by the nose by both Kejri and Rahul. If they stand discredited today, they should only blame themselves for having been played for suckers by two amateur politicians.
