(Reuters) – A chaotic match between rivals Helsingborg and Landskrona in Sweden’s second tier ended with goalkeeper Amr Kaddoura angrily confronting his own club’s fans before being dragged away by stewards and teammates.
Helsingborg claimed a 1-0 victory in Tuesday’s Superettan match, which also had to be paused after flares were thrown between sections of the supporters.
After the match, Landskrona’s Swedish-born Palestinian goalkeeper Kaddoura leapt over advertising hoardings and attempted to climb into the stands while gesturing and shouting at the club’s fans.
“I understand that they are disappointed when we lost a derby. And we are very disappointed. But there was something else that happened that I don’t want to go into. I want to take it up with the club,” Kaddoura told Swedish media.
“There was something that happened that made me lose it a little bit, unfortunately. Of course you regret it now, but there and then it burned in my head.
“I don’t want to say anything more. It is not acceptable, but if I had told you what it was, you would have understood a little. I don’t want to say more than that.”
The only goal of the match was scored by Wilhelm Loeper, with the ball appearing to strike the forward’s arm before crossing the line.
Asked about which part of his body the ball bounced off of, Loeper quipped: “The hand of God.”
