PARIS (Reuters) – New Zealand captain Sam Cane was sent off in the first half of the Rugby World Cup final on Saturday, when a bunker review upgraded a yellow card for a shoulder contact on South African Jesse Kriel’s head after 29 minutes

Flanker Cane became the first player to be sent off in a Rugby World Cup final.

New Zealand had already had Shannon Frizell yellow-carded for an illegal clearout but the review allowed him to return to play.

South Africa were leading 12-3 after 33 minutes.
