MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Kremlin, asked on Monday about international chess governing body FIDE’s ban on Russian and Belarusian players, said that Ukraine and West had put pressure on FIDE.

FIDE’s general assembly on Sunday upheld a ban on Russian and Belarusian players imposed after Russia, with Belarusian support, sent its army into Ukraine in February 2022.
