Exclusive details about the the Niti Aayog’s upcoming mega event

The government is giving the final touches to a blueprint for ‘Transforming India’, a mega initiative to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra as part of the Independence Day celebrations this year.

The PM will kickstart this effort by interacting with around 150 young entrepreneurs, who will brought together by government think-tank NITI Aayog, on August 17. Each of these participants in slated to present one ‘transformative action plan’ that will prompt effective policy interventions. They have also been asked to identify ‘disruptive technologies’.

The invitees to the event are being described as “progressive entrepreneurs” and “champions of change”, who have demonstrated a “passion for transforming India”.

The PM is said to be taking active personal interest in the event. Officials, who wished to remain anonymous, told ThePrint it was the outcome of an idea to create on open platform for the Prime Minister to directly engage with those running successful start-ups, and ask them for innovations to address key social and economic issues.

The PM is also slated to address the young entrepreneurs after receiving their action plans. These plans will look at how innovations can be introduced to strengthen specific central and state government policies.

The conclave will be split into round-table discussions on specific themes, and invitees will be split into three groups that will work on a specific theme. Each of the invitees will soon be asked to send their ideas on specific themes, and generate an action plan on August 17. These plans will then be presented to the Prime Minister, before he addresses them.

The conclave is being pitched as a move to help realise the PM’s vision of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’  with specific instructions to invitees that they should focus on challenges before the economy and creating fresh opportunities.
