Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal MP from Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strongly take up with his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan the issue of partial demolition of Guru Nanak Palace in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

The centuries-old palace was partially demolished by a group of vandals who also sold its precious windows and doors in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Harsimrat said Sikhs are deeply anguished over the incident and she joins the community in condemning the act.

The walls of the four-storey building had pictures of Sikh founder Guru Nanak as well as of various Hindu rulers.

The “Palace of Baba Guru Nanak”, said to have been built over four centuries ago, was frequented by a number of Sikhs from across the world including India, a report in Pakistan media said.

  1. Most unfortunate and hurtful incident to Sikhs and Hindus alike. Guru Nanak is a most revered figure, a symbol of love and reconciliation. Unfortunately, Pakistan is a bigoted country where minorities like Sikhs and Hindus can enjoy no peace. They had again started exploiting Sikh sentiments by making a great show of opening up Kartarpur Sahib and so on, to create division among Hindus and Sikhs and as a garb for launching Khalistani militancy again. This incident shows their true colours. Moreover, by smuggling drugs into Indian Punjab they have been systematically trying to destroy the health and moral fibre of our youth. With Modi-Akali Dal victorious in the elections for the Lok Sabha and Capt Amarinder Singh running a strong government in Punjab, it is time to put Imran and his army-jihadi masters in their correct place.
