BJP rebel Savitribai Phule says party leaders are ‘hurt’ but too afraid of Modi-Shah

Days after joining the Congress, Dalit leader Savitribai Phule called PM Narendra Modi a ‘liar’, and also demanded proof of casualties in the Balakot strike.

New Delhi: Bahraich MP Savitribai Phule, the former BJP leader who joined the Congress Saturday, has claimed that leaders of her previous party are “hurt” by the treatment they have received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, but are unable to speak out.

“We saw during meetings when (L.K.) Advani ji used to enter, no one greeted him as they were afraid of what Modi and Shah might think. Advani has literally built the party but Shah and Modi have never given him any respect. After meetings when he used to get up to leave, even then no one would speak to him,” Phule told ThePrint. “The kind of arrogance Modi and Shah have will destroy the party.”

BJP leaders, however, dismissed her allegations, saying she was trying to “please her new bosses” by making “baseless allegations” against Modi and Shah.

SP-BSP alliance will suffer

Phule, who quit the BJP last year, accusing it of being anti-Dalit, said only the Congress can defeat the BJP, and that the SP-BSP alliance will suffer. She also claimed that Congress president Rahul Gandhi had confirmed that she would re-contest from Baharich in the Lok Sabha polls.

“The SP-BSP alliance is going to suffer as people have realised that the SP is still close to the BJP. An example of this was seen when Mulayam Singh Yadav expressed a desire to see Modi as the PM once again,” she said.

BJP has damaged backward classes

Phule also said that “the kind of damage BJP has done to Dalits, Muslims, and backward classes in the past four years is unprecedented”.

“Look at the 13-point roster system (the reservation roster being followed in universities). Who is affected by it? Only Dalits,” she said.

National security

Phule also said that though national security will be a major agenda in the elections, the BJP, which is trying to gain political mileage out of it, will suffer.

“Forty of our CRPF officials died, and while the entire nation was mourning, PM Modi was busy holding a rally. Even the BJP president was conducting a public rally. The BJP is busy carrying out Vijay Diwas, but for what? There are women whose husbands have died, their sons have died. So it seems like a conspiracy,” she said.

Phule also became one of the first Congress leaders to ask for proof of the air strikes that the Indian Air Force conducted in Balakot, Pakistan.

“Our 40 jawans died, and we saw their bodies. Where are the bodies of the air strike? Ek maa jiska beta shaheed ho gaya keh rahi hai badla chaiye but badle ka saboot mila? (A mother who has lost her son is asking for revenge, but where is the proof of revenge?)” she asked.

Modi is a liar

Terming the Prime Minister a liar, she said no one has any trust left in him.

Aisa jhootha PM na kabhi hua hai, na hoga (There has never been such a liar PM, nor will there be),” she said, adding that the country is not safe in his hands.

  1. India will celebrate a SECOND FREEDOM the day these two gentlemen are sent back to Gujarat. Actually I have always believed that Modi ji will settle abroad and start a career in writing books and speech-giving after BJP’s defeat in next few months.
